AIDS Group Question #1 Mr. Rutonesha

Throughout the article by Peck, the concept of family is brought up on numerous occasions. For the two men discussed in this reading, having even the slightest bit of family around when things got difficult made all the difference in the world. It's what separated them from life and death; from giving up. How important, then, are family values and having family around to guide one another within Rwandan society? Do these values differ within the cultures of the Tutsi and Hutu? How can these values be connected to the genocide that had gone on?
