Connecting the Reading Segment #4 and Refugee
With the
reading "Martha Finnemore.
1996. National Interests in International
Society. Ithaca: Cornell U.. Ch. 3", our group discussed the need for an
organization specifically for refugees. We talked about the the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees and the fact that there is a Refugee Law which
is an international law that deals with the rights and protection of refugees.
We also discussed the weakness of this international law. Though North Koreans that has fled their
country has been classified as refugees by the United Nations, China still
rejects accepting North Koreans as refugees and sends them back, even though
they are surly going to be sent to prison or even executed.
